LYON, Marjorie M., 90, of Wheeling, WV, died Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at the Home of the Good Shepherd.
She was born September 25, 1922 in Wheeling, a daughter of James and Eveline (Blum) McAllister.
Mrs. Lyon was a graduate of Mount de Chantal Visitation Academy, and a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Wheeling.
For 26 years, Marjorie worked for Stone & Thomas Department store where she held positions as the fashion coordinator, special events coordinator and buyer for the Women’s French Room. During that time, she was the producer and director for Stone & Thomas’ Queen of Queens Program and director of the Teen Board. In addition, Mrs. Lyon served on the board of directors, retail division, for the Wheeling Chamber of Commerce, participated as a member of the West Virginia Independence Hall Foundation, the Women’s Club of Wheeling, and was the originator for the Wheeling City of Lights Program.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Dorothy Morrisey.
She is survived by one son, Robert (Diane) Lyon of Nashua, NH; one daughter, Sally (Robert) Thomson of Placitas, NM; and four grandchildren, Emily Thomson Henderson of Albuquerque, NM, Ryan Thomson of Albuquerque, NM, Megan Lyon of Nashua, NH, and Sarah Lyon of Nashua, NH.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated Saturday, October 13, 2012 at 10 a.m. at Saint Michael’s Catholic Church with Rev. William K. Matheny Jr. as celebrant. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Wheeling.
