HUDKINS, Basil Henry, 88, of Moundsville, W.Va., passed away Friday, November 2, 2012, in Liza’s Place, Wheeling, W.Va.
Basil was born April 10, 1924, in Woodland, Marshall County, W.Va., the son of the late Clyde and Eva (Crow) Hudkins. He was retired from Valley Camp Coal Co., a Methodist by faith and U.S. Marine Corps Veteran, having served in World War II.
In addition to his parents, Basil was preceded in death by his wife, Katherine (Francis) Hudkins, in 2010; and five sisters, Alveretta Yoho, Iona Moore, Mildred Ball, Gladys Persinger and Naomi Kelly.
He is survived by his three children, Basil James Hudkins and Brenda Coffield, both of Moundsville and Barbara “Jeannie” Tomaszczyk of Woodsfield, Ohio; a sister, Delores Wallace of Bellaire, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Evelyn Gamble of Moundsville; five grandchildren, Todd Coffield, Jason Coffield, Bridget Cecil, Stacy Riggle and Tracy Miller; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received from 2-8 p.m. Monday at Altmeyer Funeral Home, Lutes & Kirby-Vance Chapel, 118 Grant Avenue, Moundsville, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, November, 6, 2012, with the Rev. Gary Gibson officiating. Interment will be in Halcyon Hills Memorial Park, Sherrard, W.Va., with full military honors provided by the Moundsville Veterans Honor Guard.
