STEINMETZ, Bette Jo Streba

Born August 10, 1935, “Geege,” as she is affectionately known by her family, died August 1, 2012 in Colorado Springs where she resided for the past six years.

Born and raised in Wheeling, WV she attended Mount de Chantal Academy, then preceded to WVU prior to marrying William Albert Steinmetz. After living several years in France, the family returned to the states, where Geege attended WV Northern and obtained a degree as a court recorder.

Bette Jo is preceded in death by her parents, Oscar Alexandra Streba and Mary Elizabeth Streba. She is survived by her children, William Albert Steinmetz II, and his wife, Elizabeth Clark Steinmetz, Christian Michael Steinmetz, and his wife, Karen Steinmetz, and daughter, Julia Lynne Steinmetz Bencze, and her husband, Stephan Bencze. Geege is also survived by her sister, Adrienne Burns McElwain, her husband, James T. McElwain, and their daughters, Beth Ann Frost, Kimberly Ann Adams and Kelly Ann McElwain. Her surviving grandchildren, Emily Elizabeth Steinmetz Parker, William Matthew Steinmetz, and Samuel Forest Steinmetz, and Katharine Elizabeth Steinmetz. Great-grandchildren, Alexandra Elizabeth Parker, Dylan Thomas Parker, and twins, Aubrey Marie and Adilyn Claire Steinmetz. A service celebrating her life through the music she loved will be held on November 10 in Wheeling’s Mt. Calvary Cemetery Chapel off of National Road at 10:30 a.m.
