PUCHARICH, Agnes “Meem” Eileen Baker Rulong, passed away peacefully on December 20, 2012 in Wheeling Hospital, due to complications from lung cancer.
By her side through her journey was her husband of 51 years, Francis “Pap” A. Pucharich.
She is survived by Francis, their five daughters, and twelve grandchildren: Lynn Cook (Paul) of Richmond, VA, their son, Matthew (Hilary) and daughters, Allison Cook and Hilary Loso (Drew); Mary McKeets (Scott) of St. Clairsville, OH and daughter, Emily Schoene; Suzanne Thompson of Wheeling, WV, and sons, Anthony and Nicholas; Dr. Frances Pucharich of Hermitage, PA, her son and daughter, Sam and Hannah Crow; Amy Murray (Raymond) of Morgantown, WV, daughters, Olivia and Abigail and sons, Sean and Aidan.
Agnes was born October 25, 1934, to Charles and Christine Baker at St. Joseph’s Settlement in Proctor, WV.
She was predeceased by sisters, Kate Baker, Mary Young, Mildred Masters; brother, Leonard Baker, and first husband, Robert F. Rulong.
Agnes attended the grade school at St. Joseph’s Settlement in Proctor and graduated from Moundsville High School. After nearly 35 years of caring for her children and keeping a loving home, she went back to school and earned her degree as a Licensed Practical Nurse from the B.M. School of Nursing at Reynolds Memorial Hospital. She then spent the next two decades showing the residents of the Welty Home in Wheeling, WV, the same gentle kindness she had for all who knew her.
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 21, from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, Lutes & Kirby-Vance Chapel, 118 Grant Ave., Moundsville, with Rosary devotions at 7:30 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 22, 2012 at St. Jude Catholic Church, 710 Jefferson Ave., Glen Dale, WV, where Agnes was a long time member, with Rev. Symeon Galazka as celebrant.
Interment will follow at the St. Joseph’s Settlement Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Agnes’s memory to St. Jude Catholic Church or St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Moundsville, WV.
Goodbye from those who love you, Meem. We wish you rest and peace. We carry the life and lessons you and Pap gave us and know that on the far side of our grief lies a memory that will bring us joy when we need it most.
