HERMELING, Marion Lois, 86, formerly of New Martinsville, died on November 24, 2012 in St. Louis, Missouri.
Born in Minneapolis, Minnesota to the late G. Rayward and Eva J. Kilsberg, Mrs. Hermeling graduated from the University of Illinois in 1947. She later received her Master of Arts in Education from West Virginia University.
She taught English and Spanish in Wetzel County for 21 years, first at Magnolia High School and later at New Martinsville School until her retirement in 1983.
Prior to relocating to Centralia, Illinois, in 2009, she was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church in New Martinsville. An avid reader, Mrs. Hermeling served as the long-time President of the Friends of the Library, supporting the New Martinsville Public Library and its many activities. She was also active in the New Martinsville Women’s Civic League and other charitable endeavors in New Martinsville.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Theodore Allen Hermeling, Sr., and a brother, Gerald R. Kilsberg.
She is survived by her four sons: Ted (Kay) of Fairfax, Virginia; John of Centralia, Illinois; Paul (Sherry) of Salem, Illinois; and Dale (Carrie) of St. Louis; seven grandchildren: Allen (Megan), Christopher (Courtney), Andrew (Kari), Sarah, Kate, Claire and David; two great-grandchildren: Madelyn and Reagan; and a sister, Joanne Kilsberg of Clayton, Missouri.
Graveside services and interment at Bellerive Gardens in St. Louis will be conducted on December 15, 2012. The scheduling of a memorial service in New Martinsville remains pending.
