LEACH, Robert “Bob,” 72, of Moundsville, and formally of St. Clairsville, died December 21, at Liza’s Place in Wheeling, WV.
Bob was born May 28, 1940 in Glen Dale, WV, a son of the late David E. and Anna Mae Miscavage Leach.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, David E. Leach of Glen Dale; and a sister, Mary Darlene Garten of Moundsville.
Robert served his country after high school as a Marine with seven years of service having training as an electronic technician serving in Cuba, Japan and Vietnam.
“Gomer” worked for McElroy Mine having 29 years of service as a maintenance/electrical foreman.
Bob was member of the American Legion and V.F.W.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years Joyce D. Cox Leach, two sons Robert F. “Fred” ( Lynne) of Raleigh, Jonathan David of Benson, N.C. daughter, Beth A. Burke of Charlotte, N.C.; four grand children, Connor and Brendan of Raleigh and Biansa and Cahill Burke of Charlotte.
Friends and family will be received at Washington Lands United Methodist Church at 11 a.m. December 29 with an honor guard and memorial service in his honor.
There will be no viewing.
Bob donated his body to Medical Education and Research Institute, Memphis, TN so that possibly one day there will be a cure for the disease he fought for so many years.
