Ronald Nickerson

NICKERSON, Ronald M. “Nick,” 74, of Wheeling, W.Va., died Monday, December 24, 2012 at home, after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born July 12, 1938, in Triadelphia, W.Va., a son to the late Clarence and Laura Mae (Marple) Nickerson. He was a former truck driver for Wheeling Linen Service for many years, and a veteran in the U.S. Army.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Elwood Nickerson, Art Nickerson, and Jerry Nickerson, one sister, Dorothy Todd, and one infant brother, Teddy Nickerson.

He is survived by his loving wife, Joyce (Little) Nickerson; two sons, Ron (Leslie) Nickerson of Wheeling, and Timmy (Char) Nickerson of Martins Ferry, Ohio; two daughters, Julie Nickerson of Martins Ferry, and Melody (Louis) Assaro of Clarksburg, W.Va.; one brother, Jim Nickerson of Wheeling; six grandchildren, Zachary Assaro of Clarksburg, Scott Assaro of Clarksburg, Amanda Nickerson of Wheeling, Beth Nickerson of Wheeling, Megan Nickerson of Martins Ferry, and Amber Nickerson of Martins Ferry; expecting two great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received Thursday, December 27, 2012 from 2-6 p.m. at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, South Wheeling Chapel, 3828 Jacob Street, Wheeling.
