Agnes Kurre

KURRE, Agnes Marie Greenlee, 85, of Richmond, Virginia, passed away Friday, January 11, 2013.

Agnes was born February 28, 1927 in Wheeling, West Virginia, the daughter of the late Wesley Greenlee and Laura Shook.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Louis Frederick Kurre, and her siblings, George Greenlee, Alexander Greenlee, Dorothy Bayes, Letha Moran, Jane Lee West, Ralph Wesley Greenlee and Wilbur Greenlee.

Agnes was retired as an employee from C&P Telephone Co. and Bell Atlantic (now Verizon), after over 40 years, starting as an operator. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers.

Agnes attended Wheeling High School. Although she entered employment early to assist her family, she continued educational opportunities at the West Liberty Downtown Center, RFT Richmond night classes, Dale and Dorothy Carnegie development courses and Dorothy Carnegie Instructor Training, where she became a certified instructor.

She and her family were members of the Overbrook Presbyterian Church congregation in Richmond. She was devoted to her family and will be deeply missed by all family and friends.

Surviving are her son, Erich Louis Kurre, and his wife, Young Hwa “Margaret,” of Fredericksburg, Virginia.

A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, January 19, 2013 at the chapel in the Greenwood Cemetery, officiated by Reverend Robert Nagy.
