LILLEY, Betty Lee (Muir), February 16, 1935 – January 14, 2013
Betty was born in Wheeling, WV, and was raised and spent her youth in Wheeling and Pittsburgh, PA, where she met her husband, John, whom she married in 1955.
Betty followed her husband throughout many locations during their military career, finally making their home in Fairborn, OH in 1970.
Betty worked for the Fairborn City Schools for many years, until her retirement (or “graduation” as she liked to say) in 1996. While with the Fairborn City Schools, Betty acted as a substitute secretary, organized and ran the volunteer aide program, and was the secretary for the food services program from which she retired.
While living in Fairborn, Betty was an active member of Abiding Christ Lutheran Church.
Betty is survived by a sister, Barbara Ann Dorsch (Daniels Island, SC); her children, Nanette Jenson (Fairborn, OH), Susan (Mark) Brown (Tucson, AZ) and John (Debi) Lilley (New Baden, IL). She is also survived by seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, a brother-in-law, aunt, two uncles, numerous nieces and nephews. Betty knew no strangers.
A memorial service celebrating Betty’s life was held on Friday, January 18, 2013, at Abounding Grace Lutheran Church, Tucson, AZ.
