SAWKO, Frank H. “Jug,” 60, of Twp. Hwy. 1187, Adena, Ohio went home to be with the Lord, surrounded by his loving family, at his residence, Thursday, January 10, 2013, after fighting a courageous battle with multiple myeloma cancer.
He was born June 16, 1952, in Wheeling, W.Va. son of Erma Kurucz Sawko of Adenda and the late Harry Sawko.
He was retired from Enlow Fork mine of Consol Energy and a U.S. Army veteran.
He was a member of St. Casimirs Catholic Church, in Adena, Adena American Legion Post 525, and the Pine Valley Sportsman’s Club.
Jug will always be remembered for his love of Harley Davidson motorcycles and muscle cars. He enjoyed the outdoor life by hunting, fishing, mowing his lawn, taking care of his garden and just sitting in his garage watching his grandchildren play.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his devoted wife, of 40 years, Joyce Dosen Sawko; son, Chad (Shannon) Sawko of Adena; daughter, Corisa (Drew) Case of Adena; two sisters, Shirley Sawko of Adena, and Marie Sawko, of St. Clairsville, Ohio; four grandchildren, Camryn and Kenna Case, and Leven and Frankie Marie Sawko; and Gracie, his chocolate lab.
Friends will be received to pay tribute to Jug and celebrate his life Sunday from 4-8 p.m. at the Borkoski Funeral Home, Adena.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday morning at 11 a.m. at St. Casimirs Catholic Church, Adena with Msgr. John Kolesar as celebrant.
Full military honors will be conducted at Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant, Grove, Ohio.
A Wake service will be held Sunday at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home followed by an American Legion service at 7:45 p.m.
Jug’s family would like to extend their special thanks to Dr. Benson and his staff at the O.S.U. James Cancer Center, Columbus where memorial contributions may be made for myeloma research.
