KARVELLIS, George, 73, died Wednesday, January 16, 2013, at the Wheeling Hospital in Wheeling, West Virginia.
He was born April 9, 1939 in Martins Ferry, OH, a son of the late Rollis and Elizabeth Antonio Karvellis.
George was a retired craneman for the former Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corporation’s Yorkville Mill and owner of the former Coney Island Restaurant in Bellaire, OH; a member of the Zoodochos Peghe Greek Church in Martins Ferry, OH; the Order of AHEPA; past president of the Bellaire Eagles, Bellaire Lions Club and the Bellaire Elks.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Elaine Mikropoulus.
Surviving are his wife, Nancy Lee Crooks Hughes- Karvellis, who he married on November 14, 1987 at the St. John the Divine Orthodox Church in Wheeling, WV; three sons, Rollis (Susan) Karvellis of Jerusalem, OH, Adam (Tracie) Hughes of Shadyside, OH and Joe (Beth Ann) Hughes of Wheeling, WV; Also nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews and his beloved dog, Chico.
Private visitation and Trisigion services were held at the convenience of the family at the Bauknecht-Altmeyer Funeral Homes & Crematory 441 37th Street Bellaire, OH, with Fr. John Kostas as celebrant.
Interment in the Greenwood Cemetery in Wheeling, WV.
