MUTH, George Robert, 84, of Dallas, W.Va., passed away Thursday, January 3, 2013, in Liza’s Place, Wheeling.
George was born December 26, 1928 in Wheeling, a son of the late George and Bernice (Neuens) Muth. He was a retired, self-employed truck driver and a member of St. Vincent de Paul Parish, Elm Grove. He was also a motorcycle enthusiast, a member of the “No. 2 Ridge Poker Club” and enjoyed woodworking and raising and pulling mules.
In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his wife, Dortha Jean (Freland) Muth, in 2000; a son, Richard George Muth; and a brother, Ronald Muth.
He is survived by his daughter, Vickey L. Anderson of Dallas; two sisters, Betts Grob and Kay McGee and her husband, Jim, all of Wheeling; three grandchildren: Richard Anderson and his wife Beth, Shalyn Anderson and Clayton Anderson, all of Dallas; and six great-granddaughters.
Friends will be received from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday and 10-11:30 a.m. Monday at Altmeyer Funeral Home, Elm Grove Chapel, 154 Kruger St., Wheeling. A vigil service will be held on Sunday at 3:30 p.m.
Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at noon Monday, January 7, 2013 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church with the Rev. John P. Mulcahy as celebrant. Interment will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Wheeling.
