LONGWORTH, Horace, 103, of Moundsville, W.Va., died Thursday, January 17, 2013 in Reynolds Memorial Hospital, Glen Dale, W.Va.
He was born February 25, 1909 in Bolton, England, a son of the late Jeptha and Martha Taylor Longworth.
Mr. Longworth was a retired employee of the former Louis Marx Toy Company and the first Fire Chief of the Moundsville Volunteer Fire Dept. He was a member of the Church of England and a WWII veteran with the British Royal Air Force.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Olive Beddows Longworth in 1987; five brothers, Stanley, Herbert, Ernie, Wilford and Sam Longworth; a sister, Louise Longworth.
Surviving are a son, Graham (Delores) Longworth, Sr. of Moundsville; two grandsons, Graham “Hank” (Julie) Longworth, Jr. and Daniel (Jeannette) Longworth, both of Moundsville; four great-grandsons, Hank Allen Longworth, Jr. of Sherrard, WV, Daniel Longworth, Jr. of Moundsville, Joshua A. Longworth of Moundsville and Oscar Wojtovicz of Moundsville; a sister-in-law, Lillian Komorowski of Mounds-ville; several nieces and nephews; special friend and neighbor, Sherri Scales.
The family would like to thank his caregivers, Sandy Druschell, Mary Lee Rogers, Linda Tennant, Sandy Norris, Brittany South and Patty Stout, and the nurses and doctors at Reynolds Memorial Hospital.
Friends will be received from 4-8 p.m. Sunday at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, Lutes & Kirby-Vance Chapel, 118 Grant Avenue, Moundsville, where services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 21, 2013 with Rev. Sara Lamb officiating.
Interment in Riverview Cemetery, Moundsville.
