Katherine Dufrane

DUFRANE, Katherine was born in Wichita Falls, Texas on December 12, 1943.

She was raised in Wheeling, West Virginia, and graduated from Triadelphia High School with the class of 1961. She graduated from the West Pennsylvania Hospital School of Nursing in 1964 and worked as a registered nurse in hospital intensive care settings until enrolling in The Ohio State University College of Nursing, from which she graduated with a BSN in 1968.

After 13 years of deeply enjoying her work at Community Health and Nursing Services associated with the Columbus Health Department, she enrolled in Rehabilitation Counseling at the Ohio State University and graduated with an MA in 1983. In 1989, Katherine entered the four year, rigorous Barbara Brennan Healing Science Program and became a certified Brennan Healing Science Practitioner in 1992.

She received Ohio licensure as a licensed professional clinical counselor in 1996, and was self employed with a focus on facilitating the body’s natural healing ability and personal transformation.

Katherine was a founding member of the American Holistic Nurses Association, and the International Society for the Study of Subtle Energy and Energy Medicine.

Katherine married Keith on February 12, 1971 and every day was brightened by his laughter, humor, wisdom, kindness and care.

She is pre-deceased by her parents, Dr. Herbert Dickie (1994), Joyce Kingsbury Dickie (1949); her stepmother, Margaret Gompers Dickie (2002); and by her beloved and devoted grandparents.

Surviving family includes her sisters, Martha (James) Hildreth, Elaine (Clark) Milton, Helen (Kerry) Dickie Heidtman; brother, Thomas (Julie) Dickie; sister-in-law, Wendy (John) Ikola; nieces; nephews; great-nieces; and great-nephews.

She loved skiing in the western mountains and enjoyed gardening, yoga, and being with nature, especially forests.

She was an active member of First Community Church for over 15 years, and was an avid student of A Course in Miracles.

She has been a devoted student of Siddha Yoga at the Columbus Siddha Meditation Center for 23 years.

A Celebration of Life will be held in the Palm Room of the Franklin Park Conservatory, 1777 East Broad St., Columbus, Ohio, 43203 beginning at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, January 13, 2013.
