Mary Virginia Salek

SALEK, Mary Virginia Rodenback, 95, of St. Clairsville, OH., formerly of Wheeling, died Thursday, January 17, 2013, in Park Health Care Center, St. Clairsville, OH.

She was born April 28, 1917, in Wheeling, the daughter of the late William Elder and Florence Lucille Abercrombie Rodenback.

Mrs. Salek was a former secretary and teller at Half Dollar Bank in Wheeling, a retired secretary for Wheeling Closure and a lifetime member of First Presbyterian Church, Wheeling where she was trustee. She also was a Woman’s Army Corps veteran of WWII.

Mrs. Salek was a volunteer for Easter Seals, a volunteer in genealogy at the Wheeling Public Library, and playing bridge.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Michael Salek; three sisters, Evelyn L. McCluskey, Wilma A. Bartlett and Florence Stahanczyk.

Surviving are a sister, Mildred A. Jackson of Cranston, RI; a brother-in- law, Frank Stahanczyk of St. Clairsville, OH; nine nieces and nephews, John Brady, Susie Francis, Randall Bartlett, LeAnne LaBanca, Evelyn Kaplan and Michael, Bryan, David and Colleen Stahanczyk; many grand-nieces and grand-nephews; and many great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews.

Friends will be received from 12-3 and 6-8 p.m. on Sunday, January 20, 2013 at the Kepner Funeral Home, Wheeling (304- 232-2732) where service will be held on Monday, January 21, 2013, at 10 a.m. with Pastor Robert Willits officiating. Interment in Greenwood Cemetery, Wheeling.
