Patrick Gaughan

GAUGHAN, Patrick J. “Pat,” 80 of Shadyside, Ohio, died Friday, February 15, 2013.

He was born in Bellaire, Ohio on March 17, 1932 a son of the late James and Harriet Young Gaughan.

After graduating from St. John’s High School in 1950 he started a career in broadcasting at WMOD Radio in Moundsville, West Virginia. After he returned from serving two years in the U.S. Army, he continued his broadcasting career at WTRF-TV Channel 7 in Wheeling, West Virginia. During 32 years of broadcasting; he did weather, news, sports and a children’s program featuring “Seaweed Sam” and “Santa Claus” at Christmas time. Pat retired in 2003 after 13 years with the EPA in public relations.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Rosemary Gaughan and four brothers, James, Richard, Robert and Thomas Gaughan.

He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Carolyn Yoho Gaughan; two sons, Parry Gaughan of Atlanta, Georgia and Mark (Paige) Gaughan of Uniontown, Ohio and one daughter, Heather Gaughan of Shadyside, Ohio. Also three grandchildren, Ryan (Katrina) Gaughan of Canton, Ohio, Shannon Gaughan of Greenville, Pennsylvania and Leevi Gaughan of Uniontown, Ohio and one great grandson, Wyatt of Greenville, Pennsylvania and three sisters-in-law, Marie Gaughan of Pembroke Pines, Florida, Marcella Gaughan of Yorkville, Ohio and Carol Gaughan of Roseville, California and several nieces and nephews.

There will be no visitation. Funeral liturgy with Mass and interment will be private.
