Thelma Wise

WISE, Thelma Papadopoulos, passed away Monday, January 28, 2013, in Panama City, Florida.

She was born in Wheeling, West Virginia, graduating from Wheeling High School in 1950.

After graduation, she assisted in the family restaurant before moving to Washington D.C. and accepting employment with Eastern Airlines as a ticketing administrator. During this period of her life, she took advantage of her opportunity for travel, seeking warm climates and socializing with friends.

Eventually, she met her future husband, Benjamin M. Wise, Jr., married and started her family. Residing alongside the Chesapeake Bay for a number of years, the family moved to their favorite vacation spot in 1977. She resided in Cooks Bayou, Florida from 1977 until her death.

Leaving Eastern Airlines after her second child, she worked tirelessly to ensure that her children were afforded every opportunity to become successful.

Her parents, husband, and three brothers, Zaharia Papadopulos, Harry Papadopoulos, and Michael Papadopoulos preceded her in death.

Survivors include three children, Theodora Wise, Daphne Kott, Benjamin Z. Wise; her sister, Doris Papadopoulos; and brother, George Harris.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m., February 4, 2013, at St. John the Divine Greek Orthodox Church, 2215 Chapline St., Wheeling, WV, with Rev. Eugen Rosu officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the church.
