BRYAN, Gratis Edward “Eddie,” 69, of Powhatan Point, Ohio died suddenly on Monday, April 1, 2013 at his home.
He was born October 24, 1943 in Powhatan Point, Ohio a son of the late Gratis Elmer and Evelyn Cuckler Bryan.
He was a coal miner with North American Coal and Ohio Valley Coal for over 40 years. He retired in 2007 to spend time doing the things he loved. He was a member of the Powhatan United Methodist Church, Moriah Lodge 105 F & AM and the Order of Eastern Stars Captina Chaper 489 of Powhatan Point, Ohio.
Eddie was the best Husband, Dad, Pap and Uncle. He loved doing genealogy, walking mornings with his his walking buddies, Nascar Racing (always rooting for a Dodge) and traveling anywhere, especially Myrtle Beach and Disney World with his best friend and wife, Carol.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, James Howard Bryan; and brothers-in-law, Richard Hyland and Louis Phillips.
Surviving are his loving wife of 49 1/2 years, Carol Schroeder Bryan; his children whom he adored; daughter, Sharon L. Brown and her husband Dana of Clarington, Ohio; son, James E. Bryan and his wife Karen of Delaware, Ohio; five grandchildren, who were the light of his life, Jenna and Kylie Brown, and Kelsi, Preston, and Emily Bryan; two sisters, Ruth Ann Hyland of Powhatan Point, Ohio and Mary Phillips of Wadsworth, Ohio, one brother, Richard Bryan and his wife, Teri of Avon, Ohio; his father-in-law, William Schroeder of Shadyside, Ohio; and many loved nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received at the Bauknecht-Altmeyer Funeral Homes & Crematory, 186 Main Street, Powhatan Point, Ohio, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. where services will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. with Rev. David Smith officiating.
Interment in the Powhatan Cemetery in Powhatan Point, Ohio.
Order of Eastern Star services will be held on Wednesday evening at 7 p.m. in the funeral home.
