Louis Barbaley

BARBALEY, Louis John, 95, of Sinclair Avenue in Yorkville, Ohio died on Friday, April 5 at Liza’s Place in Wheeling, WV. He was born January 29, 1918 in Deep Run, Ohio, son of the late John G and Caroline Zambo Barbaley.

Lou was a blacksmith and welder, retired from Consolidation Coal Company Rose Valley Mine. He was a former employee of Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel Co., a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, and a Catholic by faith.

Lou belonged to the Yorkville VFW Post 4811, the Yorkville Volunteer Fire Department, Shortcreek Sportsman’s Club, Adena Tiltonsville Indian Club, UMWA, the Martins Ferry Masonic Lodge, the Wheeling Mystic Order of Shriners and the Scottish Rite of Steubenville.

Besides his parents, Lou was preceded hin death by his wife, Hilda Paul Barbaley; two brothers, an infant John and Jim Barbaley; two sisters, Irene Pak and Elsie Yocum.

Surviving are two sons, John P. (Pam) Barbaley of Warwood, WV and Marty L. (Carol) Barbaley of Raylane, Ohio; a sister, Caroline Lollini of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio; five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, his loving caretaker, Karen Shreve and his beloved dog, Bella.

A full military service will be scheduled at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Holly Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Pleasant Grove, Ohio conducted by the Belmont County Council of the VFW. Interment follows in the mausoleum.

Borkoski Funeral Home of Tiltonsville has been put in charge of arrangements.
