CLEARY, William Howard Sr., 80, of North Third Street, Martins Ferry, OH, passed away Saturday, April 20, 2013.
Bill was born in Wheeling, W.Va., on January 9, 1933, the son of the late Edward M. and Lottie M. (Stipes) Cleary.
He was a retired manager and loan officer at the former City Loan of Martins Ferry, Bellaire and St. Clairsville. He was also employed at Bank One in Bellaire, OH. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Post 38 American Legion, both of Martins Ferry. He served in the U.S. Air Force.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Jean (Volan) Cleary; two brothers, Charles and James; seven sisters: Lillian Jones, Betty Ann Graves, Dorothy Mills, Matilda Biggs, Ruth Moran, Nancy Jean Cleary and an infant sister.
He is survived by two sons, William H. Cleary Jr. of Martins Ferry, OH, and Christopher P. (Lee Ann) Cleary of Martins Ferry, OH; two sisters, Carolyn (William) McKean of Martins Ferry, OH, and Patricia Hanlin of South Carolina; and a brother, Edward M. Cleary of Georgia.
Visitation will be held at St. Mary’s Church Thursday, April 25, 2013, from 10:30 a.m. until time of a memorial Mass at noon, with the Rev. Thomas Marut as the celebrant.
