PETRAS, Catherine E. “Granny,” 89, formerly of Yorkville, Ohio, died Tuesday, May 28, 2013, at Liza’s Place in Wheeling, West Virginia.
Catherine was born on October 13, 1923, in Glenn Robbins, Ohio, to the late Steve and Femija (Kuzmiak) Orizczak.
In addition to her parents, Catherine was preceded in death by her husband, Steve M. Petras, and a brother, Steve.
She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, a member of the LPN Society and a retired nurse from East Ohio Regional Hospital.
Granny lived her entire life for her children and grandchildren. She was an avid fan of their sporting events and other activities. Also, she was involved with the Warren Consolidated Alumni Association. She was a true Pittsburgh Steelers, Penguins and Pirates fan!
Surviving are three daughters: Eva (Lewis) Atkinson of Dover, DE, Mary Kay (Phillip) Withum of Triadelphia, WV, and Stephanie (Robert) Klug of Wheeling, WV; one brother, John (Frances) Orizczak of Yorkville, OH; a twin sister, Eva Barkhurst of Harrisville, Ohio; five grandchildren: Luke, Ian, Ryan, Christina and Caitlin.
Friends will be received to pay tribute to Catherine and celebrate her life on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Borkoski Funeral Home, Tiltonsville, Ohio.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 10 a.m. from St Lucy’s Catholic Church in Yorkville, Ohio, with Msgr. Anthony Cincinnati as celebrant.
Burial will follow at Upland Cemetery, Yorkville, Ohio.
