FARMER, Flora Jane Smith, born April 25, 1921, died at home on March 29, 2013, at the age of 91 years.
Flora Jane was born in Zanesville, Ohio. She was the daughter of Floyd H. Smith and Anna Hazel Kyle Smith.
Floyd, Hazel and Janie left Zanesville and located in Wellsburg, West Virginia, to be part of the Kyle Supply Company.
Flora Jane was the wife of Alonzo Farmer, married 65 years, they were both graduates of Wellsburg High School and Bethany College. Flora Jane and Lon have resided in New Martinsville since 1948 when Lon came to work for PPG at Natrium as a chemist.
Flora Jane was employed as a social worker at the Department of Human Services, New Martinsville Healthcare Center, Magnolia High School, and Bethany College. The couple have been lifelong members of the New Martinsville Methodist Church.
Flora Jane and Lon have four children, Carol Farmer Blum, her husband, Donald Blum, Lon Kyle Farmer, his wife, Colleen Farmer and three grandchildren, Anna Blum, Aaron Blum and Christian Farmer.
Flora Jane was preceded in death by her first husband, Richard Dye.
Memorial Services will be held May 18 at 2 in the afternoon at the New Martinsville United Methodist Church. Donations are welcomed to the New Martinsville United Methodist Church.
