MERCER, James L., 79, of Moundsville, W.Va., died Monday, May 27, 2013, at Liza’s Place.
He was born January 14, 1934, in Moundsville, a son to the late Floyd and Monica Mercer. He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Moundsville. He graduated from St. Francis Xavier Catholic Grade School and Moundsville High School.
He was a member of the Retiree’s Club of AEP, and was a veteran who served in the U.S. Army. He worked at the AEP Mitchell Plant for 29 years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Jenny Woods.
He is survived by his wife, Elsie (Williams) Mercer; one daughter, Margaret (James) Siburt of Moundsville; two brothers, Harold (Mary Alice) Mercer of S.C., and John Mercer of Moundsville; six grandchildren; 13 great- grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received on Thursday, May 30, 2013, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the CARE Funeral Home, 1500 Second St., Moundsville. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, May 31, 2013, at 10 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Moundsville, with Rev. William K. Matheny Jr. as celebrant. Interment will follow at Limestone Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
