POKAS, Alexander (Alex), 83, passed on Tuesday, June 25, 2013, at Roselane Nursing Home in Massillion, Ohio.
He was born in Bellaire, Ohio on July 4, 1929, son of the late Nicholas and Sp. Stathulis Pokas.
Mr. Pokas was a disabled U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and a Greek Orthodox by faith. Alex was a Ohio State graduate with a degree in geology.
Alex worked and sent his youngest brother, Paul Pokas who received a degree in chemistry and biology at Ohio State.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Cal (Betty) Pokas.
Alex is survived by his brothers, William Pokas, Paul Pokas and a sister, Goldie Pokas. Also surviving are his cousins, Gabriel Stathulis of Australia,Dr. Don Stathulis of Toledo, Ohio, Stacy Stathulis, Columbus, Ohio, nephews, Dr. John Pokas and James Troy Pokas, niece, Mrs. Judy Mayles. Special friends, Mr. and Mrs. Ron Marple.
There will be no visitation.
Private graveside services will be held at Greenwood Cemetery, with the Mr. Ron Marple officiating.
