James Neuhart

NEUHART, James N., age 95, passed away Thursday June 27, 2013 at the home of his daughter Pandora.

Jim was born April 22, 1918 in Woodsfield, Ohio where he lived most of his life. Jim was the son of the late Stella (Poulton) and Clarence Neuhart of Woodsfield, Ohio.

In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his three brothers, Cletus, Ronald, and Billy; and his sisters, Eleanor and Lena. Also preceding his in death was his wife of 39 years, Lenora; and his youngest son, Seymour.

Jim is survived by his sister, Ruth Tarleton of New Mexico; and son, Nelson (Anna) of Tampa, Florida; daughters, Deborah of Akron and Pandora of Woodsfield.

Jim was the proud grandfather of Jeff (Maribel) Parzych of Florida, Lori (Carmen) Difede of Florida, Valeria Parzych of Florida, and Jay (Melissa) Kindall of Pennsylvania. Jim also was blessed to have three great-grandsons and seven great-granddaughters, as well as two great-great- grandsons.

Jim retired at the age of 80 as the Monroe County Auditor after serving 18 years. Prior to that, he had worked for over 20 years at Conalco, formerly Olin Mathieson Aluminum plant.

Jim was a proud WWII vet. He was the first president of U.S.W.A. Local 5760, of the Consolidated Aluminum Corporation. Also while at Conalco he served as the first president of the Omal Credit Union.

Jim served at different times as president of Monroe County Council on Aging, Regional Advisory Committee of the BHHVDD, GMNCA, CIC, and Woodsfield Kiwanis Club.

Memberships included; Buckeye Hills, Hocking Valley Development District, Monroe County Democratic Executive Committee, Ohio Southeastern County Auditor Association, Monroe County Township Trustees and Clerks Association, Monroe County Farm Bureau, Monroe County Chamber of Commerce, Monroe County Sportsman Club, VFW Post #5303, American Legion Post #87, Retirees Club of USWA Local 5760, and Lions Club. Jim was also a member of St. Sylvester Catholic Church, and the Brown Community Center.

The family would like to thank Dee, Mary, Nadine, Bobbie Thelma, and Cindy for their care, love and support of Jim. Also thanks to Amedisys Hospice: Tanya, Rhonda, Kim Chaplin, Ted, and Justin.

Friends received from 6-9 p.m. Sunday and 2-8 p.m. Monday at the Bauer-Turner Funeral Home, 100 S. Paul St., Woodsfield, Ohio.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at the St. Sylvester Catholic Church, Woodsfield, Ohio with Rev. Fr. David Gaydosik Officiating.

Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery Woodsfield. Vigil Services 8 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home.
