SLIGAR, Donna Maxine Kent, 81, of Wheeling passed away on Wednesday, July 17, 2013, at Wheeling Hospital.
She was born November 16, 1931, in Wheeling, WV, daughter of the late William Ray and Fairy Mabel Fox Kent.
Maxine was a manager of the Fulton Dairy Queen. She was a lifetime member of Stone United Presbyterian Church and a 40-year member of the Stone Church Volunteer Fire Department. She was known as the “Bread and Candy Lady” and Maxine never met a stranger.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Alan, Roger S. and Robert Kent; sisters, Charlotta Gearing and Valda Anderson.
Surviving are her husband, Eugene F. Sligar, Sr.; a son, Eugene F. Sligar, Jr. and his wife, Rhonda J.; a daughter, Sandra Westfall and her husband, Ted; five grandchildren, Jacob Allen Sligar, Jason Alan Sligar, Jared Lee Sligar, and Ryan and Allison Westfall.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Sunday, July 21, 2013, at the Kepner Funeral Home, 166 Kruger Street, Elm Grove, Wheeling, where services will be held on Monday, July 22, 2013, at 10 a.m. with Reverend Robert P. Nagy officiating.
Interment in Sand Hill Cemetery, Sand Hill, WV.
