Robert Higginbotham

HIGGINBOTHAM, Robert Glen, 91, of Indian Creek Road, Jacksonburg, WV, departed this life Saturday, July 6, 2013 at his home.

He was born September 16, 1921 in Wetzel County, a son of the late William and Blanche Lemasters Higginbotham.

Glen, upon graduating high school, went on to Salem College where he was also a graduate. He was a United States Marine Veteran, having served in WW II. He was a retired employee of PPG Industries, Natrium, WV. Glen was a member of Victory United Methodist Church.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers; Orville and Melvin Higginbotham; four sisters, Edna Williams, Erma Rose Leek and infant twins, Sharon and Karen Higginbotham.

Glen is survived by his wife of 66 years and eight months, Mabel Straight Higginbotham; a son, Robert G. Higginbotham, Jr. and his wife, Sara Jo Anne, Colliers, WV; two daughters, Shelby Warner and her husband, Roger, Reader, WV, and Jan Pavlic, Hannibal, OH; grandchildren, Christopher Boggs, Jenni Correll and husband, Jeff, Rob Higginbotham, Kimberly Baughman and husband, Andy, Stephanie Anderson and husband, Rodney, Connie Parker and husband, Alan, and Bobby Lemasters and wife, Dawn; great-grandchildren, Hayley, Chase, Carter, Kaitlyn, Grayson, Emma, Aivree, Alan Jr. and Garrett; Dan, as a special care giver, from the VA; and good neighbor, Brian Tustin.

Friends will be received Tuesday 2-8 p.m. at Furbee Funeral Home, Route 18, Tyler. Funeral service Wednesday 1 p.m. at Victory United Methodist. Interment to follow in Victory Cemetery.

Military rites will be provided by VFW Post 6327, Sistersville; VFW Post 4634, New Martinsville; American Legion Post 67, Sistersville; American Legion Post 86, Paden City; and American Legion Post 28, New Martinsville.
