Harold Metz

METZ, Harold Lee, 104, of West Liberty, WV, passed away on Tuesday, August 20, 2013, in the Peterson Rehabilitation Hospital and Geriatric Center, Wheeling.

He was born March 15, 1909, in McMechen, WV, the son of the late Samuel E. and Louie Rice Metz and was a member of Short Creek United Methodist Church in Short Creek, WV.

Harold was retired from Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel, Follansbee and Beech Bottom Plants.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Geneva Grimes Metz who passed away in 1993, four brothers and a sister.

Surviving are his four children, Janet L. Monsch and her husband, Henry of Bethel Park, Pa, Harold “Sam” Metz and his wife, Barbara J of Moundsville, WV, Marjorie A. Squires and her husband, Alvey of Wheeling and Everett Daniel Metz and his wife, Bernie of Bethany, WV; 13 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received on Thursday, August 22, 2013, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Kepner Funeral Home, 166 Kruger St., Wheeling (304-242-2311) where services will be held on Friday, August 23, 2013, at 11 a.m. with the Reverend Thaddaeus B. Allen officiating. Interment in Short Creek Cemetery, Short Creek, WV.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Short Creek United Methodist Church, RD1 North Fork Road, Short Creek, WV 26003.
