Robert Richmond

RICHMOND, Robert Dean Sr., 83, of Cameron, W.Va., died Saturday, August 3, 2013, at Cameron Nursing and Rehab Center.

He was born June 14, 1930, in Cameron, a son of the late Sydney Austin and Chloe (Wilson) Richmond.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ellen (Bridges) Richmond, one brother Paul E. Richmond Sr., three sisters, Bessie Allen, Thelma Fleck, and Bulah Bridges.

He is survived by two children, Robert Dean Richmond Jr. of Cameron, W.Va., and Mary Ellen Gross of Canton, Ohio; six grandchildren, Deanna Daugherty of Moundsville, W.Va., Adam Richmond of Dallas, N.C., Nicholas Richmond of Huntsville, Texas, Brian (Betty) Richmond of Cameron, Derek Jacob Jacobsen of Canton, Ohio, and Lindsey Hawk of Canton, Ohio; five great-grandchildren, Loren, Cody, and McKayla Daugherty of Moundsville, Tiffany D. Richmond of N.C., and Jessie Dean Richmond of Cameron; and one great-great-granddaughter, Elaina M. Daugherty of Moundsville.

He was the owner and operator of the Richmond’s Auto Service, a business which he started in Cameron in 1962. He was a school bus driver for Marshall County Schools for approximately 28 years. He was an auto mechanic for Cadillac dealerships in Wheeling and Indianapolis, Ind. in the 1950s. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He was a member of the Cameron First Christian Church, the American Legion, Moose Lodge, and the Cameron Business and Professional Club for many years.

He enjoyed animals from the shelter, playing music, antique hot rod cars, and lots of power tools.

Friends are invited to attend funeral services on Friday, August 9, 2013, at 1 p.m. at the Care Funeral Home, 1500 Second Street, Moundsville, W.Va.
