NOON, John R. “Jack” 92, of St. Clairsville, Ohio, died Sunday, September 22, at his home.
He was born May 28, 1921, at Jacksonville, Ohio, a son of the late Laurence and May Bryson Noon.
Jack’s business career began as owner of the Dexter City Fruit and Vegetable stand in 1952; he later started Noon Coal Company in 1959 and later merged to Baker and Noon. In 1970, Jack began Quinn Development Company.
Jack attended East Richland Friends Church. He loved the outdoors, planting trees, mowing grass, and boating.
He was an extremely generous employer, and his quiet philanthropy touched many. His favorite Bible passage was “The poor will always be among us therefore we must take care of the poor.”
In addition to his parents Jack was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.
Surviving are his wife, Janet Winland Noon; his children and step-children, Judy (John) Wilson, Patty (Bob) Nau, Rex Noon, Marilyn Arthur, Barbara (Mark) Schott, Amanda (Steven) Ellison, Kim (Bill) Coudriet, Scott (Shawn) Schuster and Jennifer Schuster (John); 21 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received Wednesday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Beck-Altmeyer Funeral Home and Crematory, St. Clairsville. Friends will the be received from 10 a.m. until the time of Jack’s funeral service at 11 a.m. Thursday at East Richland Friends Church with Rev. Wayne Ickes officiating. Interment will follow in Union Cemetery St. Clairsville.
