Dewey Knight

KNIGHT, Dewey, 83, of Powhatan Point, Ohio, died Sunday, October 27, 2013.

He was born July 5, 1930, in Eldersville, Pa., a son of the late George Dewey and Anna Planey Knight.

Dewey was a retired master mechanic with the former North American Coal Company and Quarto Mining Company’s Number 4 Mine with 39 years of service. He was a Methodist by faith, a member of Moriah Lodge 105 F & AM Powhatan Point, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Steubenville, the Osiris Shrine of Wheeling, W.Va., and the First Powhatan Indian Patrol.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Wilma Knight and one brother, Joseph Knight and his son-in-law, Harold Thomas.

Surviving are his wife, Sarah Densmore Knight; his sons, Dennis “Red” (Jacki) Knight and Robert “Dougie” (Janice) Knight both of Powhatan Point; two daughters, Belinda Knight and John P. Kiger of Parkersburg, W.Va., and Christine Thomas of Powhatan Point; two brothers, Harry Knight and Harold (Lorna) Knight both of Powhatan Point; one sister, Mildred Huff of Tampa, Fla.; and one sister-in-law, Marlene Knight of Naples, Fla. Also five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will be received at the Bauknecht-Altmeyer Funeral Homes & Crematory, 186 Main Street, Powhatan Point, on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., where services will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. with Fr. Samuel R. Saprano officiating. Interment in the Powhatan Cemetery in Powhatan Point.

Moriah Lodge 105 F & AM will conduct services Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the funeral home.
