STEPHENS, William W., Sr., 87, of Wheeling, WV, passed away on Wednesday, October 16, 2013, at Bishop Joseph H. Hodges Continuous Care Center, Wheeling.
He was born July 31, 1926, in Wheeling, WV, son of the late John D. and Freda Baker Stephens.
Mr. Stephens was retired from the Ohio Valley Medical Center, Wheeling, with 24 years of service, and he was a U.S. Army Korean War Veteran.
He was a member of the American Legion Post #1; the Moundsville D.A.V.; the Snake Club; the Cave Club; and a member of St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church, Wheeling.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 38 years, Geneva Mae Anderson Stephens; three sisters, Verneda Haught, Norma Minzler and Ann Lucas.
Surviving are his son, William W. Stephens, Jr. and his companion, Rosemary Jackson of Norfolk, VA; daughters, Jamie Lopez and her husband, Stephen of San Francisco, CA, and Paula Clemens and her husband, Harold of Wheeling; one brother, Melvin Stephens of Warwood; two grandchildren, Heather and Paul; and several great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Friday, October 18, 2013, at the Kepner Funeral Home, 166 Kruger Street, Elm Grove, Wheeling (304-242-2311), where services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, October 19, 2013, with the Reverend Richard Skaggs ofiiciating.
Entombment in Halcyon Hills Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Sherrard, WV.
