Charles Thompson

THOMPSON, Charles R., 85, of Wheeling, WV, died Thursday, October 31, 2013 at Liza’s Place, Wheeling.

He was born in Portmouth, OH on July 21, 1928.

He was a member of the St. Matthews Episcopal Church where he was a Lay reader and he volunteered in the Food Pantry.

Charlie was a retired retail buyer and was associated with LS Good and Bernhardts Clothiers and he was a U.S. Army veteran and he served with The Occupation Forces in Korea during WWII.

He was a 32rd degree Mason; and a past member of the Lions and the Civitan Clubs.

Charlie loved Towngate Theartor and was involved in many plays.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Judith Pratt Thompson.

Surviving are his beloved wife, Anne Randolph Thompson; are three sons, The Very Reverend C. Christopher Thompson and his wife, Mary Jo, Kevin E. Thompson and his wife, Marie and Timothy J. Thompson and his wife, Rachel; three granddaughters, Lucy, Sara and Gracie Thompson; four step-children, Jeff Nelson and his wife, Deb, Susan Paine and her husband, David, Gayle Seidler and her husband, Don and Diane Nelson; five step-grandchildren, Ben Seidler, Chris Seidler, Zach Paine (Allison), Erin and Sam hinebaugh and two great- grandsons, Trace and Branch McAfee.

There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held at St. Matthews Episcopal Church, Friday, November 8th 2013 at 11 a.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Matthews Food Pantry, 1410 Chapline St., Wheeling, WV 26003.
