Pascal Adamo

ADAMO, Pascal “Pat,” 94, of Wheeling, W.Va., passed away Saturday, December 14, 2013, in Good Shepherd Nursing Home, Wheeling.

Mr. Adamo was born August 29, 1919 in Ellwood City, Pa., a son of the late Paulo and Concetta (Folino) Adamo.

A graduate of the University of Nebraska, he was a retired Lieutenant Colonel for the United States Army, having served in World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He received the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star, World War II Victory; Korean Service and Vietnam Service medals, along with numerous other commendations, citations and campaign ribbons. He was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, the Serra Club of Wheeling and was a fourth-degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Carroll Council No. 504. In addition, he was a volunteer at the Catholic Charities Neighborhood Center and was a member of the Sons of Italy, the Wheeling Circus Saints and Sinners and the Disabled American Veterans.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia A. (Ippolito) Adamo, and sister Frances Loccisano.

Surviving are his two children, Paul J. Adamo and his wife Karen of Newport News, Va., and Sharon L. Shelby of Fairfax, Va.; two grandsons, Patrick R. Shelby of Fairfax and Ryan Roth and his wife Jennifer of Ellicott City, Md.; and three great-grandchildren: Jackson, Andrew and Lauren Roth.

Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, Elm Grove Chapel, 154 Kruger St., Wheeling, where a vigil service will be held at 2 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at St. Michael Catholic Church, Wheeling, with the Rev. Thomas Gallagher as celebrant. Interment with full military honors will be in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Va.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to either the Catholic Charities Neighborhood Center, P.O. Box 6176, Wheeling, WV 26003; or to the Disabled American Veterans, P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250.
