SMITH, Ralph, 89, of Windsor Heights passed away on Saturday, December 21, 2013 at Bishop Joseph Hodges Continuous Care Center, Wheeling, WV.
Ralph was born on November 16, 1924 in Lamira, Ohio. He was the son of the late Ralph Chester and Sophia Smith.
Ralph served in the United States Navy during WWII. He, “Cannonball” worked at Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel. Ralph was a member of the West Liberty Christian Church and the Yellow House Sportsman Club.
In addition to his parents, Ralph was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn (Barton) Smith, a granddaughter, Ashley Evans, five sisters, Jeanette Bertha, Wanda Bates, Sophia Kretzinger, Mildred Smith, and Mary Lawrence.
Ralph is survived by his three children, Sharon (David) Duke of Bethany, WV, Frances (Luis) Bolanos of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, Ralph (Gina) Smith, of West Liberty, WV, ten grandchildren, David, Ben, Michele, Cynthia, Sherry, Joseph, Clinton, Ralph Adam, and Jennifer, fourteen great- grandchildren, a brother Frank Smith of Mason, Ohio, a sister, Anna Myers of Kansas, and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received on Thursday, December 26, 2013 from 1-3 p.m. and 5 p.m. until time of Funeral Service at 7 p.m. at the Chambers Funeral Home, 1030 Main Street, Wellsburg, WV (304) 737-3551 with Minister Dennis Arnold officiating, and military honors by the United States Navy and the Ohio Valley Memorial Veterans Squad.
Following the service, Ralph will be cremated.
