DLESK- On Wednesday, December 18, 2013, SYLVAN JAMES “DICK” DLESK in his 76th year.

Friends received on Sunday, from 2-7 p.m. at the Kepner Funeral Home, 900 National Rd, Wheeling, WV (304-232- 2732) where services will be held on Monday, at 11 a.m.

Interment will be held at the convenience of the family in the Greenwood Cemetery, Wheeling, WV.

DLESK, Sylvan James “Dick,” 75, of Wheeling, WV died on Wednesday, December 18, 2013 in Wheeling Hospital surrounded by his loving family.

He was born June 17, 1938 in Pittsburgh, PA the son of the late Sylvan J. Dlesk, Sr. and Alice Stewart Dlesk.

Dick was an all state baseball player in his younger years. He attended Northern Community College in Wheeling, WV and West Liberty State College in West Liberty, WV where he received an honorary degree, and he took American Institute of Banking courses. He attended the Church of God in Martins Ferry, OH and the Church of Christ on National Rd in Wheeling, WV.

He was known as a child of God and a Biblical scholar who traveled throughout the United States, Haiti and the Cayman Islands spreading the word of the Lord as an evangelical minister.

Dick was the Chairman of the Board of the First WV Bank, Inc., President and CEO of Progressive Bank, Wheeling, WV and President of Dlesk Realty and Investments, Wheeling, WV and past president of Custom Carpet, Wheeling, WV. He was past chairman of the Wheeling Hall of Fame, past member of the advisory board of the Boy Scouts of America, past member of the Wheeling Rotary Club, past member of the Wheeling Jaycees, past president of Wheeling YMCA, and board member of the Wheeling Area Chamber of Commerce. He loved watching WVU sports and the Ohio State Buckeye sports. He was a strong benefactor for WVU, Linsly School and the Wheeling Symphony.

One of the greatest things about Dick Dlesk was that if he said he would do something, you could consider it done, a strong characteristic for a man who loved Wheeling, WV and believed in this valley.

Surviving are his loving wife of 56 years, Rosalie J. Dlesk; his son Richard J. Dlesk, Sr. and his wife, Sharon of Wheeling, WV and their children, Richard J. Dlesk, Jr. and his wife, Amy, Ryan J. Dlesk and his wife, Nicole, Robert J. Dlesk, Natasha Zamon, and Noelle and Nathan Neis; his other son, Randall J. Dlesk, Sr. and his fiancee, Kelly Herr of Wheeling, WV and his sons, Randall J. Dlesk, Jr, Cristian J. and Stephen J. Dlesk; the mother of Randall’s children, Jane Dlesk; his sisters and brothers, Donna Minadeo of Pittsburgh, PA, Alice Stewart of Las Vegas, NV and Eugene Dlesk and his wife, Karen, of Bridgeport, OH; Irvin Dlesk of Pittsburgh, PA; three step-sisters, JoAnn, Jeanne and Ruthie; five great-grandchildren, Rhyder, Addyson, Lyla Dlesk, and Ariana and Maya Zamon and several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received on Sunday, December 22, 2013 from 2 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Kepner Funeral Home, 900 National Rd, Wheeling, WV (304-232- 2732) where services will be held on Monday, December 23, 2013 at 11 a.m. with Mr. Ron Stullenbarger officiating.

Interment will be held at the convenience of the family in the Greenwood Cemetery, Wheeling, WV.
