GILBERT, James “Jimmy” William III, 44, of Wheeling passed away Friday, January 3, 2014, at Wheeling Hospital.
He was born January 31, 1969, in Steubenville, OH.
Jimmy was a member of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church. He was a good baseball player, had a heart of gold, and was always giving.
He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Conrad and Virginia Blankenship; paternal grandparents, James and Belva Gilbert; and his other grandmother, Genevieve Johnson.
He is survived by his mother, “Marty” Johnson and her husband, Walter of Wheeling; his father, James Gilbert II and his wife, Belinda of Wheeling; two sisters, Deborah Solomon of Tiltonsville and Melissa Gilbert of Wheeling; seven step-siblings, Gilbert Johnson, Vickie Earnest and her husband, Rich, Toni Shook, Jay Johnson and his wife, Tammy, James Johnson, Gary Lee Phillips, Jr. and his wife, Amanda, and Adam Phillips and his wife, Brandy; several nieces and nephews; Jimmy’s caregiver of 27 years, David South; and his best friend, Brian Higgenbothan.
Friends will be received Sunday, January 5, 2014, from noon-3 and 6-8 p.m. at Kepner Funeral Home, 166 Kruger St., Elm Grove, Wheeling (304-242-2311), where a service will be held Monday, January 6, 2014, at 10:30 a.m.
Interment in Halcyon Hills Memorial Gardens.
