MESSNER, Melba Kathleen, 89, of Huntington, WV formerly of Moundsville, WV, passed away on Wednesday, February 12, 2014, at Midland Meadows Senior Living, Ona, WV.

Friends will be received from 2-5 p.m., Sunday at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, Lutes & Kirby-Vance Chapel, 118 Grant Avenue, Moundsville, where services will be held at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Monday, February 17, 2014, with Rev. Cindy Murphy officiating.

Interment in Halcyon Hills Memorial Gardens, Sherrard.

MESSNER, Melba Kathleen, 89, of Huntington, WV, formerly of Moundsville, WV, passed away on Wednesday, February 12, 2014, at Midland Meadows Senior Living, Ona, WV.

She was born January 1, 1925 in Moundsville, the daughter of the late Lawrence Edward and Eva Briggs Pettit.

She was a retired LPN at Pleasant Valley Hospital in Point Pleasant, WV, and a member of Fairview United Methodist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Mike Messner and a brother, Harold Pettit.

Surviving are two daughters, Diana (Edwin) Hoffman of Ashaway, RI and Alane (Gregory) Thomas of Huntington; a son, Mark Messner of Anchorage, AL; a brother, Roger Pettit of Moundsville; two grandchildren, Keith G. (Shelly), Hoffman and Kevin Thomas.
