DEATON, Myrtle Gertrude (Calissie) passed from this life at 7:57 a.m. on Wednesday, February 12, 2014, in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Myrtle was employed by Marx Toy Company of Moundsville and the Ohio County Health Department. After retiring she worked for the Ohio County Parks and Recreations at the South Wheeling Playground and Pool. In 2007, Floyd and Myrtle moved from Wheeling West Virginia to live near their children in Cincinnati, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Lieutenant Detective Floyd David Deaton Sr. of the Ohio County Sheriff’s Department. She was also the devoted daughter of Joseph E. Calissie Jr. and Martha C. (Norman) Calissie of South Wheeling. Also preceding her in death were her brothers, Clarence Calissie, Joseph Calissie lll and Norman Calissie.
She was a loving and caring mother to son Floyd David Deaton Jr. of Cincinnati, Ohio, daughter, Martha Marie (Deaton) Niehaus (Paul) also of Cincinnati Ohio. Grandmother to Tiffany Ann (Niehaus) Wallace (Albert) of Austin, Texas and Jessica Lynn Niehaus (Morgan Kessler) of St. Petersburg, Florida. And great-grandmother to Mason David Wallace.
Friends will be received from noon-3 and 6-8 p.m. on Sunday, February 16, 2014, at the Kepner Funeral Home, 3545 Jacob St., South Wheeling (304-232-4060) where service will be held on Monday, February 17, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. with the Reverend William Schwochow officiating. Interment in Greenwood Cemetery, Wheeling.
