Raymond Duffy

DUFFY, Raymond J., 85, of Wheeling, WV, passed away Wednesday, February 5, 2014, in Peterson Hospital.

He was born July 11, 1928, in Wheeling, a son of the late Joseph and Nell (Comer) Duffy.

Ray was a retired U.S. Air Force veteran serving in WWII and the Korean Wars, a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, Wheeling, and an avid booster of CCHS.

He was preceded in death by a son, Raymond J. Duffy Jr.; one brother, William Duffy.

Surviving are his children, Patrick R. Duffy of Wheeling, WV, David L. Duffy (Elaine Joynt) of Grand Blanc, MI, John M. Duffy of El Paso, TX, Richard C. (Elizabeth) Duffy of The Colony, TX, Catherine L. Duffy of Irving, TX, Karen M. (Derrick) Washington of El Paso, TX, Edward P. (Kathleen) Duffy of Tampa, FL; seven brothers, Edward P. (Eileen) Duffy, Joseph H. Duffy, Patrick A. (Jane) Duffy, Thomas W. (Bev) Duffy, Lawrence V. (Debbie) Duffy, Earl P. “Mickey” (Linda) Duffy, all of Wheeling, John M. “Jay” (Kathy) Duffy of Peters Township, PA; one sister, Dorothy A. (Chuck) McKee of Wheeling; 14 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren.

Friends received 5-8 p.m. Friday at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 154 Kruger St., Wheeling, where vigil services will be held at 7:30 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, February 8, 2014, at St. Michael Catholic Church, Wheeling, with Rev. Thomas Gallagher as celebrant.

Interment with military honors in Greenwood Cemetery, Wheeling.
