Virginia Nolan

NOLAN, Virginia Lee Taylor, died in the Leesburg, VA, hospital surrounded by family on February 3, 2014, at the age of 88 years old.

As a lifelong resident of Wheeling, she was proud to call this area her home.

She was the daughter of James Leland and Virginia Grosscurth Taylor. Her grandparents were Edward and Mary Jergens Grosscurth and Barnett Winning and Letitia Taylor.

After raising her three children, being an avid member of Christ United Methodist Church, she retired from the former First National Bank (now WesBanco Bank) with 28 years of service.

She went on to volunteer much of her time for many years. She volunteered at the Wheeling Hospital and with her strong background in finance, she served as the financial secretary, trustee, and as a dedicated member in the Women’s Group at her cherished Christ United Methodist Church. In her free time she enjoyed drinking coffee and playing bridge with her good friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband, James W. Nolan; her son, James Craig Nolan; and her sister, Mary Etta Norman.

She is survived by daughters, Linda Lee Nolan Myers (with Brad Myers), of Purcellville, VA and Nancy Ann Nolan Wolfe (with Patrick Wolfe) of Georgetown, TX; brother James Edward Taylor (with Virginia Taylor) of Newport News, VA; grandchildren, Ross Edward Myers (with Leah Myers) of Ashburn, VA, Benjamin Nolan Myers of Reston, VA, and Mandy Nolan Alarcon (with Stephen Alarcon) of Dripping Springs, TX; great-grandchildren, Zula, Daisy, and Zayden Alarcon of Dripping Springs, TX; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews and great- nieces and great-nephews.

Friends will be received from 2-5 p.m. on Friday, February 7, 2014, at the Kepner Funeral Home, 900 National Road, Wheeling (304-232-2732).

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2014, at 11 a.m. at the Christ United Methodist Church with the Reverend Judy Fisher officiating.

Interment in Greenwood Cemetery, Wheeling.

Memorial contributions may be made to Christ United Methodist Church, 1232 National Road, Wheeling, WV 26003.
