PHILLIPS, Carl C. “Tom,” 77, of Powhatan Point, OH died Thursday, March 6, 2014, at Liza’s Place of Valley Hospice, Wheeling, WV.
He was born June 27, 1936, in Powhatan Point, a son of the late Orville and Dorothy Vanness Phillips.
Tom was a retired employee of the Williamson Shaft & Slope Company, a Protestant by faith and a member of Men’s Auxiliary of the VFW #5565 and a social member of Sons of the American Legion #228 both of Powhatan Point.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his companion, Anna Belle Leek; five brothers, Roger, Larry, Virgil, Sedrick and Ralph Phillips; two sisters, Violet Carpenter and Hilda Smith.
Surviving are four brothers, Kenneth (Margie) Phillips of Powhatan, Raymond (Marjorie) Phillips of Powhatan, Clarence “Jake” Phillips of Shadyside, OH and Gary Phillips of Bellaire, OH; three sisters, Catherine (Larry) Glotfelty of Clarington, OH, Wilma Jean Greer of Martins Ferry, OH and Edna Mae Ullman of Rittman, OH; Anna Belle’s children whom he helped raise Kent Leek of Powhatan and Keith Leek of Paden City, WV; and grandson, Logan Leek.
There will be no visitation or service. Burial of his cremated remains will be in Powhatan Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
