STROPE, Charles Dion, 50, of Cameron, WV, passed away Wednesday, March 12, 2014, at Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, WV.
Dion was born on November 3, 1963, in Moundsville, WV, son of Donnie and Mickie (Wyckoff) Strope of Cameron, WV.
Dion graduated from Cameron High School in 1982 and from Potomac State College. He was a member of Local 1058 of Pittsburgh, PA.
Dion is survived by his wife of 29 years, Sonya (Evans); three children, Arianne (Dave) Robinson of Cameron, WV, Britta (Jeremy) Hill of Moundsville, WV, and Jared Strope and Nikki Bonds of Cameron, WV; five grandchildren, Caleb and Wyatt Robinson, Brody and Dawson Hill, and Bristol Strope; a brother, Cash (Karen) Strope of Cameron, WV; a sister, Charlene (Randy) Ross of Cameron, WV; his mother-in-law, Carol Evans of Cameron, WV; and several nieces and nephews.
Dion was a devoted family man. He loved his family and friends dearly. Always quick to lend a hand or offer words of comfort or wisdom.
He had a strong work ethic and led an active lifestyle; enjoying hunting, the outdoors, horseback riding, and was an avid photographer.
He always had a cowboy hat on, a smile on his face, and a way of making everyone around him feel special. His motto was “Wide open one time!”
Family will receive friends on Friday, March 14th, 2-9 p.m. at Anderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 39 Maple Avenue, Cameron, WV, where services will be held on Saturday, March 15th, at 11 a.m. with Steve Smithbauer officiating.
Interment at the convenience of the family.
