GARDNER, Mary Mae Drake, 94, of Moundsville, WV, died Friday, April 4, 2014 at Moundview Health Care.
She was born April 26, 1919, in Moundsville, WV, the daughter of the late Clarence and Ada Drake.
Mary was a 1938 graduate of Moundville High School, a homemaker, member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter 86 of Moundsville for over 55 years, worked as a Den Mother for the Cub Scouts, a leader of the Fairview Achievers 4-H Club for many years and member of the First Presbyterian Church of Moundsville, where she served as a Deacon and was very active in the Woman’s Group. One of Mary’s proudest moments was being awarded the Presbyterian Woman’s Life Membership Award.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank B. Gardner; grandson, Matt Gardner; two brothers, Eugene and John C. Drake; two sisters, Helen Knapp and Dorothy Albaugh.
Surviving are her two sons, David F. (Pamela) Gardner of Humbolt, TN and Philip L. (Cindy) Gardner of Moon Township, PA; sister, Nancy (Don) Bolen of Moundsville; three grandchildren, Mark (Holly) Gardner of Nashville, TN, Jamie (Mark) Masten and Stephanie Gardner of Moon Township, PA; five great grandchildren, Alex, Emma and Colin Gardner and Jenna and Breanna Masten; several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received Sunday, April 6, from 6-8 p.m. and again Monday April 7, from 10 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m. at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, Lutes & Kirby-Vance Chapel, 118 Grant Ave., Moundsville with the Rev.
