COTTRILL, Robert W., 77, of Moundsville died Tuesday, April 22, 2014, in Peterson Rehabilitation Hospital, Wheeling, WV.
He was born October 18, 1936, in Charleston, WV, one of eight children born to the late O.B. and Flossye Thompson Cottrill of Morgantown, WV.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, O.B. Cottrill; and three sisters, Oneita Tilton, Jean Flint, and Maxine Borgquist.
Robert was a graduate of West Virginia University; a U.S. Army veteran; retired from both the Ormet Primary Plant and the Ormet Rolling Mill, with 38 years of Service; he also retired from the Marshall County board of Education with over five years of service.
He was very proud to be a Teacher’s Aide in his later years of life, and was affectionately known by staff and students as “Mr. B”.
He was a member of Simpson United Methodist Church, Marshall Union Lodge 8 AF&AM; American Legion Earl Francis Post 3, all of Moundsville; and a lifetime member of the Moundville Moose Lodge.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Nancy Marlene Cottrill; two sons, Thomas Keith (Lara) Cottrill and, Robert Dean Cottrill, all of Mounds-ville; a daughter, Terri Lynn Locke of New Martinsville, WV; five grandchildren, Brittany, Thomas, II, Kassie, Abby, and Tricia; three sisters, Louise Shahan and Evelyn Anderson, both of Morgantown, WV, and Barbara Cottrill Helms of Raleigh, NC; and a special nephew, Capt. C.H. Tilton, USNR, (RET.) of Spencer, NY.
Family will receive friends on Friday from 11 a.m. until time of funeral service at noon at Grisell Funeral Home & Crematory, 400 Jefferson Avenue, Moundsville with Mike Eskridge and Jeff Mauck officiating.
Entombment will be held in Riverview Cemetery with the Moundsville Honor Guard conducting Military Services and Marshall Unioin Lodge 8 AF&AM conducting Masonic graveside services.
