Roy Edward Bowman

BOWMAN, Roy Edward “Ed”, 85, of Moundsville, WV, died Saturday, March 29, 2014, in Reynolds Memorial Hospital, Glen Dale, WV.

He was born November 24, 1928 in McMechen, WV, a son of the late Charles F. and Cora Gallagher Bowman.

Ed was a retired employee of Allied Chemical Co. and a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Moundsville. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, a member of the American Legion, Post 5, McMechen, and a former Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus, Father Flanagan Council 1907, Moundsville.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Bradley Bowman; two brothers, Charles and Denny Bowman; a sister, Mary Lou Carpenter.

Surviving are his beloved wife of 65 years, Kathryn R. Crock Bowman; three sons, Edward L. (Sara) Bowman of Wheeling, WV, Dennis M. (Pam) Bowman of Longwood, FL, and Gregory W. (Tammy) Bowman of Greensburg, PA: two sisters, Jacqueline (Marvin) Bennett and Jean Ann Pyle, both of McMechen; five grandchildren, Mark (Tammy) Bowman and Amy Bowman, both of Atlanta, Ga., Katie Bowman and Stacey Bowman, both of Longwood, FL, and Zachary Bowman of Rock Hill, S.C.; three great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, Lutes & Kirby-Vance Chapel, 118 Grant Avenue, Moundsville, where a Rosary service will be held at 6 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 3, 2014 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Renovation Fund, Moundsville, with Rev. Richard Shoda as celebrant.

Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Wheeling.
