James S. “Bud” Smith, 97, of Wheeling, WV, died Sunday, May 25, 2014, in Peterson Hospital.

He was born August 24, 1916, in Wheeling, a son of the late Leo L. and Mary Blum Smith.

Bud was a former employee of the U.S. Postal Service, a Navy veteran of WWII, and a member of the Bridgeport Eagles 995.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Helen Meals Smith in 2001, three sisters, Edith King, Anna Mae Kettler and Freda Testa.

Surviving are two sons, Thomas E. (Donna) Smith and Larry L. (Charlotte) Smith, all of Wheeling; two grandchildren, James S. Smith II and Dawn Renee Smith; a brother, Harry L. (Nellie) Smith of Wheeling; several nieces and nephews.

Bud’s request was private funeral services.

James A. Smith, 74, of Cadiz died April 10, 2014. A memorial service will be held Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. at the First Apostolic Church in Cadiz.
