Kenneth Richard “Ken” Filter, 58, of Moundsville, WV died Friday, May 9, 2014 at Reynolds Memorial Hospital, Glen Dale, WV.

He was born January 10, 1956 in Wheeling, WV, the son of Mary E. Burgess Filter of Glen Dale, and the late, Kesty J. “Kay” Filter.

He was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church; attended St. Francis Grade School, and graduated from Linsly in 1974.

He attended the University of Dayton; took electrical classes at Belmont Tech.; and worked at Columbus Dispatch before moving to Louisville, KY, where he worked as an Industrial Electrician at Vacuum Depositing.

Ken loved animals, especially his two dogs, Daisy and Buddy. He always had one at his side to train, treat, and spoil.

He was an avid Pittsburgh fan; especially of the Steelers.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents; several aunts; uncles; and six cousins.

In addition to his mother; he is survived by his beloved wife of 16 years, Janice Lynn Filter; two brothers, Henry E. “Butch” (Alice) Filter of Moundsville, and Kesty, III (Peggy) Filter of Grove City, OH; a sister, Mary Kay Dietrich of Glen Dale; two step-daughters, Amanda (Seth) Kendrick of Twenty Nine Palms, CA, and Jan (Timothy) Keesee of Lancaster, OH; three step-granddaughters, Emma and Caroline Kendrick, and Lillian Keesee; an aunt, Wanda Olako of Warwood; two nieces, Heather (Urs) Batzel of Silver Spring, MD, and Season (Matt) Burris of Arlington, VA; a nephew, Henry Jack (Angela) Burke of Walton, WV; a great-niece, Adelena Ann Batzel; and several cousins.

Family will receive friends Sunday from noon-3 and 6-8 p.m. at Grisell Funeral Home & Crematory, 400 Jefferson Avenue, Moundsville with Vigil Services at 2:30 p.m.

Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Jude Catholic Church, 710 Jefferson Ave., Glen Dale with Fr. Raju Antony as celebrant.

Interment in Riverview Cemetery, Moundsville.
