Russell W. “Sonny” Sheller Jr., 80, of Wheeling passed away on Wednesday, May 14, 2014, at his home.
He was born February 2, 1934, in Wheeling, a son of the late Russell W. Sheller, Sr. and Geneva Stollar Sheller.
Mr. Sheller graduated in 1952 from the former Triadelphia High School, and was a construction worker at Bryum Construction for 12 years and with Sampson Construction for 38 years. He was a member of the Roney’s Point United Presbyterian Church, Triadelphia, WV.
“Sonny” was a member of the Liberty Lodge No. 26, A.F. & A.M. where he received his Master Mason Degree and his 50-year pin. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, hunting, and was a professional painter and a big fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and the WVU Mountaineers.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Lou Gerragauch Sheller, June 13, 2013; a son, Thomas Sheller; two sisters, Betty Frye and Helen McNabb; and a brother, Louis Sheller.
Surviving are four children, Penni Parker and her husband, Darrell, Candi Biddle, Patricia Venis and her husband, Eric, and Timothy Sheller and his wife, Tonja; two step-daughters, Juanita Gongola and her husband, Kenneth, and Paula Mastroianni and her husband, Michael; two brothers-in-law, Charles “C.T.” Frye and Dave McNabb; 12 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews, including a special nephew, Rusty Crow.

Friends will be received from 1-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Friday, May 16, 2014 at the Kepner Funeral Home, 166 Kruger Street, Elm Grove, Wheeling (304-242-2311), where services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 17, 2014, with the Reverend Darrin Jones officiating.
Interment in West Alexander Cemetery, West Alexander, PA.
Liberty Lodge #26 will conduct masonic graveside services.
