William O’Brien Mudge passed away at his home, surrounded by loving family, following a long spirited battle with Parkinson ‘s disease.

He was born May 3, 1930 in Wheeling, son of Ronald A. Sr. and Vivian O’Brien Mudge.

He graduated from Wheeling High School and studied at West Liberty State College and WVU. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Stone Presbyterian Church where he served as a Deacon, on Session, and for many years on the Property Committee. Bill was a 32nd degree Mason, a Shriner and a Jester.

He was employed by Centre Foundry for 34 years retiring in 1987 as Vice President and General Manager.

Bill loved home improvement projects; was an avid runner, outdoorsman, golfer and was a talented painter.

He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years; Joan Frederick Mudge, three sons, Brien (Ginny) Mudge, Jay (Kathy) Mudge of Wheeling and Tim (Joyce) Mudge of Greenville NC; grandchildren, Zachary (Jessica) Mudge of Wheeling, Jamie of Morgantown and Katelyn of Wheeling, Erin (Mark) Ahlstrom of MN, Ryan of NC and four great-grand- children, Coren, Addison, Kendall and Jayden. Also surviving are a brother, Fred (Ann) Mudge of Louisville, KY; sister, Stephanie (Sandy) of MN; sister-in-law, Garnet Mudge of Wheeling and brother-in-law, Nick Mumley of Columbus, IN; many nieces and nephews and his special loving caretakers, Alice, Sarah, Cass, Lois, Terri, and granddaughter, Katelyn .

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ronald A. Mudge Sr. Vivian O’Brien Mudge, a brother, Ronald A. Mudge Jr. and a sister, Vivian “Sue” Mumley.

Mr. Mudge, always ready and willing to help, has willed his body to the WVU School of Medicine Human Gift Registry.

Friends will be received from 10:30 a.m. until the Memorial Service at 11:30 a.m. on May 14, 2014 at Stone Presbyterian Church with The Rev. Robert Nagy officiating.

Luncheon will follow services.
